Short Pump & Richmond, Virginia
Short Pump
Copperas Creek

The fresh green of trees along Copperas Creek herald Spring as surely as the appearance of flowers. It is raining and squirrels in the nest at upper right and below ...

... work to weave new leaves into their home to further waterproof it.

Daily Grind

Shannon anticipates a chocolate smoothy at the Grind. It is a treat worth anticipating.

Richmond

The sign outside proclaims "Hot Donuts" and the conveyor belt inside delivers on the promise. Hot-out-of-the-kettle Krispy Kremes are a Southern institution. The sign goes on and cars pull in, carting away box after box of the sugary delicacies.

There is a silent crack of an invisible bat as Farris, left, connects with a "snap" pitched his way by Shawn, right, while Dianne, center, attempts to stay out of the way. The fast-paced game — where no objects pass back and forth, and pitches and throws are signaled by finger snaps — results in few injuries beyond sore fingers.
