David Miller and I have been friends for more than 20 years. Today he celebrates 25 years as a camp director and event planner. He jokes about getting the pen he is holding — "Worth about a penny a year" — and looking forward to getting a red, matching one for his 30-year celebration. I dropped the silly hat on his head. David is also scoutmaster for an Hispanic troop that for the lack of a sponsor has met through the winter on the streets in South Richmond. This week they found a sponsor — a church with a meeting room on a large lot  they can use for outdoor activities.

Nice portrait. I really enjoyed your spring poem on my blog.
